What is blockchain project Huddle01?

Huddle01 is developing a decentralized real-time communication (dRTC) platform that offers an alternative to centralized video conferencing systems like Zoom and Google Meet. By leveraging blockchain technology, Huddle01 aims to reduce latency, improve performance, and cut infrastructure costs, making communication more efficient and scalable.

Problems Huddle01 Aims to Solve

• Data Collection and Sharing: Current video meeting platforms, like Google Meet and Zoom, collect user data such as IP addresses and meeting metadata. They also share this information with third parties without users’ consent.
• Security Vulnerabilities: Platforms have faced issues like cross-site scripting attacks, where malicious actors could potentially gain access to users’ data, such as passwords, cookies, and more.
• Cloud Costs and Latency: RTC companies incur huge costs due to the centralized monopoly of cloud services. Uneven distribution of data centers leads to latency issues and poor performance for users in underserved regions.
• Monetization of User Data: User data is often monetized, with its value being funneled into the hands of a few large corporations.

How Huddle01 Addresses These Issues

• Zero Data Collection: Huddle01 allows users to host meetings without any data being collected or shared with third parties. All data remains between the participants, ensuring data ownership.
• Encrypted and Token-Gated Meetings: Meetings are fully encrypted, protecting conversations from eavesdropping. Huddle01 also introduces token gating, where only users with specific digital tokens can join a meeting, ensuring better security and control. Proof of Attendance Protocols (POAPs) can also be issued, allowing participants to verify attendance and gain access to future meetings.
• Decentralized Infrastructure: Huddle01 reduces cloud costs by using a decentralized network of nodes rather than relying on centralized cloud services. This leads to lower operational costs and improved performance.
• Improved Latency: Through peer-to-peer communication and decentralized nodes, data is routed through nodes closer to the user, reducing travel distance for audio and video packets, which results in lower latency and improved performance.
• Enhanced Security: By storing video recordings and other data using decentralized technologies like IPFS (interplanetary file system where files are broken into smaller pieces and distributed amongst multiple nodes) and Filecoin (allowing users to store and rent out storage space in a decentralized manner), Huddle01 reduces the risk of centralized attacks, ensuring the security of stored data.

The Team Behind Huddle01
Huddle01’s journey began in 2020 when the team participated in the ETHGlobal Hackathon. At that time, the project was known as Cadbury01. Since then, it has evolved into what is now Huddle01, a cutting-edge platform. Today, the team has grown to include around 23 team members.

The Community
The community on Discord seems to be thriving with lots of engagement from both users and developers. There are regular giveaways and live streams that the community can participate in. They also have regular meetups.

Upcoming Node sale
A total of 46900 media nodes will be for sale across two phases with a starting price of $320 per node. Phase 1 is scheduled to begin on November 6, 2024, for whitelisted participants, with a Public sale shortly thereafter on November the 8th. To run a node you will need a minimum of 250 Mbps internet connectivity. Testnet is planned to launch two weeks after the phase 1 sale.
